The nonprofit Iowa State Horticultural Society was founded in 1866 for the purpose of promoting and encouraging horticulture and its related interests in Iowa. The Society supports professional and educational associations, clubs, and societies throughout the state.
Currently, the ISHS membership consists of 20 affiliated organizations that represent and promote specific sectors of horticulture. A listing of the organizations that are currently members of the ISHS can be found on the Affiliated Organizations page. A Board of Directors governs the activities and functions of the Society.
The ISHS acts as a liaison between its affiliate organizations, the legislative branch, state and federal government agencies, and Iowa State University. Additionally, the Society provides scholarships to students enrolled in horticulture or hort-related degree programs at Iowa's higher-ed institutions. The Society also issues annual awards to worthy members of its affiliate organizations.
Affiliated organizations may join the Association with voluntary annual dues. Suggested commercial and educational group dues are $100 per year and $50 for avocational groups, but all contributions are welcome.
Please join ISHS in promoting this diverse, important sector of agriculture in Iowa. Please contact the Board with any questions, membership inquiries, or use the links to affiliated organizations to learn more about specific fields and interests.
